Bacon Wiki

The Bacon-Palooza is a New York City charity event, raising money for kids with autism, and focused on all things bacon. The first edition of the event took place at the SoHo Gallery for Digital Art on October 15-17, 2010.

It is being run by John Ordover, the owner of the Soho Gallery for Digital Art, whose 8 year old son Arren is autistic. He chose bacon as the theme of the event because, as he says, everyone he knows loves bacon. "If there is one thing that everyone can agree on, it's bacon," as he told NPR.

There were all kinds of bacon-themed food and drinks there - balsamic bacon-wrapped shrimp with chipotle sauce, bacon sweet potato hash, bacon-wrapped dates, bacon dipped in chocolate, a BLT with bacon vodka, tomato juice and a sprig of lettuce, and a bacon egg cream. Available merchandise included bacon-themed novels and board games, as well as bacon-themed cartoons on the walls.

Another edition of Bacon-Palooza is to be held this year - the exact details are yet to be announced.
