Bacon Wiki

A simple sandwich with tremendous depth of character.

  • Two slices white bread, freshly toasted golden and delicious
  • Four slices crisp bacon, freshly made
  • Two slices American cheese, preferably easy-melt slices (optionally, meltable cheese spread may be applied to both slices of bread
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optionally blue or Roquefort cheese), equivalent to about one slice

  1. Place one slice of cheese on one piece of warm toast.
  2. Spread the Parmesan/blue cheese evenly on the American cheese slice.
  3. Place the still hot bacon evenly across the cheese.
  4. Place the second slice of American cheese on top of the bacon.
  5. Place the second slice of warm toast to close the sandwich.
  6. Use a second plate to gently press down on the sandwich for 30 seconds to a minute (or use a sandwich press) in order to let the bread and bacon melt the cheese into a mass of bacon-infused ooze goodness.

Slice diagonally (scientifically proven to enhance the flavour of a sandwich) and place on a plate with a pickle spear (to help cut through the fattiness and cleanse the palate) and a few ridged potato chips for textural contrast.

Grilled Variant[]

Instead of pressing, melt one pat of salted butter on a frying pan at high heat. Prepare the sandwich as presented above, but use untoasted white bread.

Once the butter has melted, carefully place the sandwich on the frying pan and press down with the spatula for 10-20 seconds before flipping the sandwich with the spatula and toasting on the pan for an additional 10-15 seconds.

Place on plate (buttery yellow side up) and serve as above.
